ERICK SOTO
CATCHER/PITCHER/CORNER INFIELDER CLASS OF 2024
Erick Soto is a 5'11", 180 pound right handed hitting two way player from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He has a thick, muscular frame with the possibility of adding 10-15 pounds of muscle before he graduates. He plays for Trinity Christian Academy in Lake Worth, Florida. Erick is primarily a catcher, but he can also play both corner infield positions and pitches. Behind the plate, he has excellent reflexes with an ability to block box-to-box. He has a superior arm, with an infield velo of 85 mph. His velocity from behind the plate was recorded at 75 mph which was in the top 7% for the class of 2024. His pop time was clocked at 1.95 in 2021, putting him in the top 6% of his class. He is a solid pitch framer and has the ability to call a game. Erick is a strong leader who can command the team on the field and in the dugout.
As a pitcher, Erick throws four pitches and features a fastball. Perfect Game said, “On the bump, Soto used compact mechanics and 3/4 slot to attack the zone consistently. The fastball flashed cutting action up to 86 mph and he mixed a breaker with depth to complement.” He continues to improve his velocity and should touch the upper 80’s to low 90’s as he develops.
Erick has the ability to hit for power to all fields. He hits from an open stance with a hover leg load to generate solid lower half rotation. He explodes the barrel through the zone with a flat, powerful swing. His last recorded exit velocity was 87 mph. He has good command of the strike zone and works at bats.
Erick has a great attitude and displays excellent character. He works hard and is a wonderful teammate. He has incredible potential that should provide him opportunities at the next level.
